As part of my doctoral studies into digital literacy I stumbled into something that saved my thesis: ambiguity. This blog will serve to document occasional updates to my sporadic research into this area.
Just before submitting my thesis to Durham University in 2011 I wrote an article with my thesis supervisor entitled Digital literacy, digital natives, and the continuum of ambiguity. This takes the work of William Empson, as well as a couple of thinkers after him, and applies it to the concepts of ‘digital natives’ and ‘digital literacy’.
Four years later, in December 2015, I ran a seminar at Manchester Metropolitan University with a similar title to that 2011 article:

To her credit Nicola Sturgeon & her predecessor rock the boat. Yesterday, I was in a room full of people and seemingly quiet sedate members of the aristocracy get quite excited at the mention of her name. Perhaps its her ability to identify unjustified-entitlement-ness. No, I think its plain jealousy. There are those who get irate when they see others getting above themselves. They are the ones with folded arms as Usain Bolt/Roger Bannister/Andy Murray/etc perform miracles. #zombieOMG
